BRSR Core and ESG assurance readiness

Nitium helps finance, sustainability and compliance teams across India prepare supporting records before an independent assessment or assurance engagement. We review the agreed evidence, data trails and reporting process so your team can see what needs resolution before handover.

Discuss an evidence-readiness review

When this support is useful

  • Your independent provider has requested evidence and the supporting files are difficult to locate.

  • A draft disclosure cannot be reproduced from the available calculation and source versions.

  • Different sites or owners use inconsistent coverage, definitions or review records.

What we do

  • Agree which disclosures, periods, sites and provider requirements the readiness review will cover.

  • Index supporting records and connect draft disclosures to their calculation files and source references.

  • Review agreed data trails and process handovers for missing or inconsistent documentation.

  • Record findings with the evidence examined and the limits of the work performed.

  • Discuss corrective actions with your team and retain open items for the independent provider’s handover.

What you receive

  • An evidence index for the agreed review scope.

  • A data-trail review identifying the records and calculations examined.

  • An action list for missing or inconsistent documentation.

  • An agreed handover with review status and unresolved questions; provider-specific requirements remain identifiable.

What we need from your team

Bring draft disclosures, calculation files, source records, reporting definitions and the independent provider’s requirements where available. Identify the people who can resolve source, boundary and methodology questions. Management supplies the records, approves corrections and decides when its disclosure is ready to release.

How the work proceeds

  • Clarify: identify the separate independent engagement and the preparation needed.

  • Scope: agree the review population, records, procedures, responsibilities and handover.

  • Prepare: follow the agreed trails, record inconsistencies and discuss actions.

  • Review and hand over: retain evidence versions, corrections and unresolved findings for your team and its separate provider.

Example: a complete spreadsheet with incomplete coverage

Hypothetical example, not a Nitium client case. A wages disclosure uses a head-office payroll extract, but two operating sites inside the agreed reporting boundary are absent. A readiness finding identifies the missing population, the affected disclosure and the records needed. The team must resolve the coverage and update the calculation before treating it as complete. Checking one extract cannot establish that the full reporting population is covered.

Scope and responsibilities

This is advisory preparation and readiness support. Nitium does not issue an independent assessment or assurance opinion under this offer, certify compliance or guarantee the independent provider’s conclusion. The provider’s appointment, expertise, independence, scope and procedures are separate. Selected-record work is described with its limits, rather than presented as a review of every record.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an independent assurance engagement?

No. The purpose is to organise and review supporting information before a separate provider performs its own agreed engagement.

Can the review cover BRSR Core?

Yes, within an agreed readiness scope. Your team should first establish the applicable requirement and period, then identify the disclosures, criteria and independent provider’s information needs.

Do you check every site and record?

Coverage and procedures are agreed at scoping. A selected-record review must state what was examined and what that selection cannot establish.

Who resolves the findings?

Your management and data owners supply further evidence, decide methodology questions and approve corrections. The action list keeps responsibilities and unresolved questions visible.

Can we start before selecting an independent provider?

The preparation scope can be discussed using your draft disclosures and records. Once provider-specific requirements are known, check whether they change the handover or require additional work.
