Reported greenhouse gas data

Updated: Oct 7
Trace a reported greenhouse-gas figure to its exact source, unit, period and scope notes before using it. This collection contains 145 observations from 26 Indian issuers. It preserves what the reviewed reports disclose; it does not build a complete inventory where the source is partial or rank company performance.
Edition: 0.6.0-sample1661. Coverage: 66 Scope 1 observations, 66 unspecified-method Scope 2 observations, six limited-scope Scope 3 observations and seven separately reported combined Scope 1-and-2 intensity observations. Selected metric periods run from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2026, with uneven issuer/year coverage. Sources were retrieved on 5–6 October 2026; row-level check dates and reporting periods remain separate. This is a dated sample, not a live feed or a claim of complete latest-year coverage.

What would make these figures comparable?
Match the legal entity, sites, activities, time period, original unit, method and denominator. A common metric ID helps find related rows; it does not prove their boundaries or measurement methods match. Filter by company, period and original unit before considering a comparison.
Scope 1: preserve equipment and activity exclusions. In the displayed MDL example, the source excludes identified off-road vehicles because distance data were unavailable.
Scope 2: the file contains 66 observations under the unspecified-method Scope 2 concept. Retain each row’s source-specific method notes; a factor citation alone does not establish a location-based or market-based label.
Scope 3: the six observations cover business travel or selected categories, with source-specific geographic and category limits. They are not complete value-chain totals. The displayed MDL example assumes one-way flights; an unquantified earlier year remains absent from numeric counts.
Units and versions: original unit spellings and scale remain visible. Dwarikesh’s original FY2025 GHG labels include an energy denominator that the later comparative labels omit. Matching digits do not establish dimensional equivalence or a conversion.
Check MDL’s Scope 1/2 notes and limited travel disclosure. Dwarikesh’s paired labels appear in its original FY2025 report, printed p211 / PDF p213 and later report, printed p243 / PDF p245.
The nine cards below retain the original two-shipbuilder teaching selection. They illustrate source tracing within the earlier 83-observation edition 0.5.0 collection; they are not a representative subset or a ranking. The complete files carry every selected issuer’s own boundaries and caveats.
Nine worked examples from the historical shipbuilder selection
Original unit for every displayed amount: Metric tonnes of CO2 equivalent. Read the company-specific scope notes with these values. Display order is by company, reporting period and metric; it is not a performance ranking.
Cochin Shipyard Limited
The examined GHG table does not specify the GWP/factor basis or a Scope 2 accounting-method label. Do not reconstruct Scope 1 from its partial gas breakdown.

Read the history with the selected observation
A report can revise a prior-year amount, change a unit label or add a method note. The selected fact keeps its stable ID; original/later source pairs and record-version events do not add metric observations. The history table identifies which source side the accepted row uses. A missing structured pair does not mean “unrevised.”
The wider edition 0.6.0 contains 430 structured source pairs for its 1,422 numeric observations. Its other 992 observations have no structured pair in the inputs provided for this release. That is a history-coverage limitation, not a count of source errors or unchecked selected facts. Some original-unit metadata remains qualified null; it is not copied from a later report.
Edition 0.6.0 downloads
The nine teaching observations already displayed on this page remain the edition 0.5.0 selection and are unchanged in edition 0.6.0. The expanded file’s seven combined Scope 1-and-2 intensities are separately reported ratios with their own units and denominators; do not add them to absolute emissions or infer component intensities. Use the matching source-specific dictionary and mandatory qualifications.
Previous edition 0.5.0 downloads and teaching support
Use the CSV for spreadsheet filters or the JSON for a data workflow. Keep original units, source locators, period qualifications, method fields and footnotes with every subset. The complete ZIP also includes the other collections and their supporting files.
Attribution and use limits
Nitium prepared attributed factual transcriptions and original analyses using AI-assisted research and separate internal source checks. The process does not independently verify underlying company measurements, provide assurance or establish overall sustainability. No company is identified as a Nitium client or endorser.
The official reports remain with their publishers. No blanket source-report licence is asserted; report graphics, logos and third-party auditor/assurance/certificate text are excluded. Retain each source’s conditions and open links without framing. The CSL and MDL policies apply to the displayed historical examples, with their accuracy, attribution and third-party limitations.
Next step: If you are preparing a carbon inventory, start by listing the entity, sites, activities, data owners and unresolved coverage questions. Read the evidence-file guide or contact Nitium Advisory at contact@nitium.in about reporting preparation support.
