Reported waste data

Updated: Oct 7
Trace a waste-generation quantity to its category, original unit and source notes before treating it as a comparable measure. This collection contains 298 reported observations from 26 Indian issuers. Its current numeric coverage is waste generated: it is not a complete recovery, recycling or disposal database.
Edition: 0.6.0-sample1661. Hub review: 6 October 2026. Selected metric periods run from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2026, with uneven issuer, year and metric coverage. Release source retrieval and selected-row checking took place on 5–6 October 2026; row timestamps remain in the files. Original report-publication dates were not established. This is a fixed historical, source-screened sample, not a live feed, representative sample, complete issuer inventory or latest-year coverage claim.

What is included, and what overlaps?
The file contains 56 reported generation totals and 242 observations across eight generation categories: plastic, e-waste, biomedical, construction and demolition, battery, fly ash, other hazardous and other non-hazardous waste. Totals overlap their components. A category can include different materials in different reports, so the original label and footnotes matter alongside its metric ID.
The original units include metric tonnes, MT, metric ton, Metric Tonnes, metric tons, Tons and M.T. The file preserves the labels and reported precision rather than silently replacing them. The categories in an issuer’s BRSR are retained as reported; this hub does not certify a legal waste classification.
Nine teaching observations: totals and missing categories
These two issuer examples from edition 0.5.0-sample1040 are retained unchanged and are chosen to show interpretation problems, not to represent the expanded 298-row collection or rank waste performance. All displayed source units are metric tonnes. Each figure is a selected company-reported value; the arithmetic below is separately labelled.
Sandhar Technologies Limited
Standalone Sandhar Technologies Limited. These are entity-level generation rows; no table-specific site exclusion is stated. The selected total overlaps the category values.
Reporting period: 2024-04-01 to 2025-03-31. Selected source: Sandhar Technologies Limited Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report 2024-25.
Plastic waste (A)
Reported value: 270.99 metric tonnes. Printed p120 / PDF p33.
Construction and demolition waste (D)
Reported value: 10 metric tonnes. Printed p120 / PDF p33.
Battery waste (E)
Reported value: 0.05 metric tonnes. Printed p120 / PDF p33.
Other Hazardous waste (G) (ETP sludge, hydraulic oil, paint sludge)
Reported value: 367.48 metric tonnes. Printed p120 / PDF p33.
Other Non-hazardous waste generated (H) (Waste paper, drum, board, wood, furniture etc.)
Reported value: 552.5 metric tonnes. Printed p121 / PDF p34.
Total (A+B+C+D+E+F+G+H)
Reported value: 1201.02 metric tonnes. Printed p121 / PDF p34.
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited
Standalone MDL. The current-year e-waste cell is a dash with a continuation footnote about collected waste awaiting disposal and later data disclosure. It is excluded from the numeric collection; the reported total must retain that limit.
Reporting period: 2024-04-01 to 2025-03-31. Selected source: Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited Business Responsibility & Sustainability Report 2024-2025.
Battery waste (E)
Reported value: 2.20 metric tonnes. Printed p40 / PDF p40.
Bio-medical waste (C)
Reported value: 0.10 metric tonnes. Printed p40 / PDF p40.
Total (A+B + C + D + E + F + G + H)
Reported value: 70372.45 metric tonnes. Printed p40 / PDF p40.
Two checks that answer different questions
Selected-component arithmetic: Sandhar’s five displayed category values sum to 270.99 + 10 + 0.05 + 367.48 + 552.5 = 1201.02 metric tonnes. That equals its reported generation total. The derived residual, total minus the sum, is 0.00 metric tonnes. This is a check of those numeric cells, not evidence that every material stream was quantified, that dashes mean zero, or that recovery/disposal routes close to generation. Printed p120 / PDF p33; printed p121 / PDF p34.
Missing-state interpretation: MDL’s e-waste dash is accompanied by a note explaining that waste was collected, with disposal and data disclosure deferred. It cannot be turned into zero generation. The disclosed generation total remains as reported, with this coverage qualification. MDL continuation note, printed/PDF p41.
Before using a waste comparison
Match the reporting entity, activities, period, unit and category composition. A shared total-waste label does not establish the same operational scope.
Keep generation, stored material, recovery and disposal conceptually separate. Establish stock, timing and routing boundaries before proposing a balance.
Do not add a total to its components, infer a missing category from a remainder or estimate a prior-year category from the current-year breakdown.
Treat a source change as a version issue first. A larger reported amount may reflect scope, categorisation or method changes; the number alone does not identify a cause.
Download and use the collection
The 0.6.0-sample1661 complete edition ZIP contains D005-waste.csv and D005-waste.json, each with the same 298 reported observations. Extract the format you prefer. The page provides selected teaching cards; it does not provide an on-page search or filtering tool. CSV and JSON are two formats of the same records.
Use the source, coverage, metric, period, history and qualification files inside this ZIP for the expanded collection. Retain mandatory-qualifications, record-qualifications and source-provenance-availability with any subset; shorter source-scope summaries do not replace the full conditions.
Previous-edition example support: the seven links below remain bound to 0.5.0-sample1040, which supports the unchanged teaching examples. Use the current-edition ZIP above for the expanded collection and its supporting files.
Open D005-waste.csv in a spreadsheet with UTF-8 import. Keep reported_value as text if the original decimal precision matters.
Filter company_id, period_start, period_end, metric_id and original_unit. Keep observation_id with every subset.
Read boundary, method, denominator_if_relevant, footnote_context and comparability_caveat before using the value. Follow source_id, source_url and the printed/PDF locator to the report.
Retain version, source_history_status and the supporting dictionaries. The archive contains data-schema.json, metric-definition-variants.json and the history schema. 110 of this collection’s 298 observations have a structured original/later-source pair; 188 have none in the reviewed history inputs. A missing structured history pair does not mean that a value is unrevised.
Attribution, missing information and maintenance
The numeric file includes explicitly reported numbers. Blank metadata, dashes, Nil, NA and unavailable disclosures are not silently converted to zero. An explicit numeric zero stays zero. A source may not explain an abbreviation. In history CSV files, the token \N represents JSON null; an actual empty source cell remains empty. Histories, amendments, conversions and repeated formats add no observations.
AI-assisted preparation and separate internal source checks support transcription and interpretation. They do not independently verify company measurements, provide professional assurance or establish compliance. The issuers are not identified as Nitium clients or endorsers. No report PDFs, report graphics or third-party assurance materials are distributed. The release does not grant a blanket licence over source reports; retain attribution, exact units, locations and source-specific limits when making a subset.
This frozen edition changes only through versioned corrections or a reviewed successor. Source amendments, broken links, altered reuse conditions and material method changes trigger a review. New company reports are not incorporated automatically. The method file preserves source-specific access limits, including City Union Bank’s direct-PDF availability caveat.
Prepare your own evidence trail
Use the public ESG report directory to locate reporting boundaries and editions. The downloaded files provide historical examples; your own reporting needs its own period, scope and source records.
