BRSR report preparation in Mumbai and across India

Mumbai-based Nitium helps sustainability, finance and compliance teams across India prepare BRSR disclosures from the information their business can support. We organise the disclosure map, data requests and open questions so your team can review the draft and the evidence behind it.

Discuss BRSR reporting support

When this support is useful

  • You are starting a reporting cycle and need a clear entity, site and period boundary.

  • Inputs arrive from different departments, with inconsistent definitions or missing records.

  • A draft exists, but reviewers cannot trace figures to their sources or see who must resolve an issue.

What we do

  • Clarify the reporting purpose, period, boundary and agreed preparation outputs.

  • Map disclosures to the information needed and the people responsible for supplying it.

  • Prepare data-collection templates and organise the received records.

  • Keep missing information, assumptions and unresolved decisions visible in a gap tracker.

  • Prepare the BRSR draft with supporting references and review comments with your team.

What you receive

  • Disclosure mapping for the agreed reporting scope.

  • Data-collection templates and a gap tracker.

  • A draft BRSR with supporting references for management review.

  • A handover of agreed outputs, their review status and remaining questions; file formats are agreed when scoping.

What we need from your team

Share the reporting period and entity/site scope, previous disclosures if available, existing ESG records and the internal data owners. Your responsible team confirms applicability, provides the underlying information and approves final disclosures. Missing inputs can be listed as open questions at the start.

How the work proceeds

  • Clarify: establish what is being prepared, for whom and for which entities and dates.

  • Scope: agree deliverables, data owners, review responsibilities and dependencies.

  • Prepare: map disclosures, collect inputs and track questions.

  • Review and hand over: work through corrections with your team and retain unresolved items alongside the agreed draft.

Example: from an electricity record to a disclosure input

Hypothetical example, not a Nitium client case. For one reporting year, a factory supplies 960,000 kWh covering all twelve months. A warehouse supplies 111,000 kWh for eleven months of that same year. A provisional 9,000 kWh estimate is recorded for the missing month. When the bill arrives at 9,800 kWh, the supported total becomes 1,080,800 kWh. The evidence file retains the bill, correction, review and affected draft version. This is an energy-data example, not an emissions result.

Scope and responsibilities

The reporting basis, boundary and deliverables are agreed for each engagement. Preparation does not determine every entity’s legal obligations or provide an independent assessment, assurance opinion, legal opinion or certification. Management retains responsibility for the information and final disclosure approval.

Frequently asked questions

Can we start if some records are missing?

Yes. Bring the available information and identify known gaps. Missing records stay visible; a blank is not treated as zero. Any proposed estimate needs an appropriate method, documented basis and the responsible team’s review.

Does a customer ESG request mean we need a BRSR?

That question needs to be settled for your entity and purpose. A customer questionnaire and a BRSR can require different outputs; keep their scopes separate in the brief.

Who supplies and approves the information?

Your internal data owners supply records and resolve operational questions. We prepare the agreed outputs with your team; management approves final disclosures.

Is independent assessment or assurance included?

No. This service covers preparation. Any independent engagement has its own provider, scope and requirements. Evidence-readiness support can be discussed separately.

How do we agree timing?

Share your target date and the information already available. We agree the work and timing after considering data collection, open decisions, review and other dependencies.

What affects the scope and fee?

The work depends on the reporting entities and sites, the disclosures to prepare, the condition of existing records and the review needed. A first reporting cycle with scattered inputs may need a different scope from updating a draft supported by an organised evidence file. To discuss a quote, tell us the reporting period, entity and site count, what already exists, the gaps you know about and your target date. We agree the deliverables and fee after clarifying the work.
