Climate disclosure preparation and IFRS S2 gap support
Organise climate disclosure evidence
Nitium helps teams across India organise climate information for a defined reporting request. We prepare disclosure maps, evidence checklists and draft narrative, keeping gaps and unresolved decisions visible. The work supports preparation; it does not establish compliance with IFRS S1 or IFRS S2.
When this support is useful
-
A parent company, capital provider or reporting decision has created a climate disclosure request, but the required evidence sits across several teams.
-
You have TCFD-based material and need to identify what remains to be addressed for a specified IFRS S2 reporting basis.
-
Your draft mentions policies or targets without clearly identifying the evidence, period, responsible owner or open decision.
-
A disclosure map for the agreed climate reporting scope and basis.
-
An evidence checklist connecting requested information with available records and responsible owners.
-
Draft narrative based on supplied information, retaining qualifications and matters awaiting approval.
-
A prioritised gap list identifying missing information, decisions and separately required analytical work.
The scope, level of review and handover format are agreed before work starts. A narrow gap review is not presented as a complete IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 assessment.
What we need from your team
Start with the request and its purpose, reporting entity and period, existing climate disclosures, governance records, risk information, emissions inventory and targets. Identify who can explain the records and approve the draft. Your team confirms the applicable reporting basis and supplies the underlying information; uncertainty about applicability remains an open question, not an assumed obligation.
How the work proceeds
-
Clarify the reporting request, audience, period, boundary and version of the reporting requirements.
-
Map the agreed questions to evidence and owners, distinguishing available information from missing records or unresolved judgments.
-
Prepare supported narrative and discuss gaps with your team.
-
Hand over the draft, its review status and prioritised next steps. Management approves final disclosures.
Illustrative gap record
Fictional example—not a Nitium client engagement. A company’s draft says a climate target is monitored, but the supplied file contains only an approved target and no current-period progress record. The gap entry identifies the claim, target document, missing monitoring evidence, responsible owner and next action. It does not invent progress or conclude that monitoring never occurred.
How IFRS S2 and TCFD fit
IFRS S2 addresses climate-related financial disclosures and is applied with IFRS S1. Its content includes governance, strategy, risk management, and metrics and targets. TCFD recommendations are incorporated into ISSB Standards, but IFRS S2 adds requirements; changing the headings of an older report is not a completed transition.
Applicability and version matter
A standard’s effective date does not determine every company’s legal obligation. Jurisdictions decide mandatory adoption, and a business may also have a voluntary or contractual reporting request. Record the actual basis for the engagement. The December 2025 IFRS S2 greenhouse-gas amendments apply to reporting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2027, with early application allowed; check the relevant version and jurisdictional arrangements.

Scope and responsibilities
This is disclosure preparation and gap support, not independent assurance, certification or a legal opinion. Specialist scenario modelling is excluded. A record of missing scenario analysis is not a climate-resilience assessment; any required analytical work needs a separate, suitable scope. An emissions inventory alone is not a complete climate disclosure. Neither compliance nor acceptance by a regulator, customer or capital provider is guaranteed.
What affects the scope and fee?
The reporting basis, entities and period, breadth of the requested disclosures, condition of existing evidence and review needed affect the work. Share what already exists and the intended date so preparation, approvals and specialist dependencies can be scoped before a fee and timetable are agreed.
Prepare for a first discussion
Tell us why the climate disclosure is needed, who will use it, the reporting period and which records or drafts already exist. A short, non-confidential outline is enough; do not send confidential records or sensitive personal information in the initial enquiry.
