Reported energy data

Updated: Oct 7
Find a reported energy quantity, then check its original unit, reporting boundary and denominator before using it. This collection contains 246 reported observations from 26 Indian issuers. It is for sustainability, finance and operations teams preparing an evidence trail or checking how a public disclosure describes energy use.
Edition: 0.6.0-sample1661. Selected metric periods: 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2026, with uneven company, year and metric coverage. Hub reviewed: 6 October 2026. The release sources were retrieved and selected rows checked on 5–6 October 2026; individual row timestamps are in the files. Original report-publication dates were not established. This frozen historical sample is not a live feed, representative sample, complete issuer inventory or claim of latest-year coverage.

What is in the energy file?
There are 231 absolute-quantity observations and 15 revenue-intensity observations. The absolute rows include 52 reported total-energy values, 8 non-renewable totals and selected electricity, fuel and other-energy components. Totals overlap their components. These row counts describe the file; adding the values would not produce a meaningful national, sector or peer-group energy total.
Original units include GJ, TJ, Mega joules, Million GJ, literal J and Tera Joules, as well as source-specific revenue ratios. A revenue intensity carries both the energy scale and its denominator, such as rupees, lakh rupees or crore rupees. Match those fields before comparison. Energy quantities are not greenhouse-gas quantities; this page does not apply an emissions factor.
Ten teaching observations: preserve units before comparing
The two shipbuilders below remain the same deliberate teaching selection from edition 0.5.0; their selected facts are also retained unchanged in edition 0.6.0. They illustrate unit scale, ratio denominators and source arithmetic. Their selection and display order do not establish representativeness or relative performance. Values retain the source precision; grouping separators are removed for storage.
Cochin Shipyard Limited: 2024–25
Standalone CSL, as identified in BRSR Section A Q13. The source describes five national plants and no international plants. CSL says energy is monitored internally; the selected table does not give a fuller calculation method. Physical-output intensity is not applicable because project outputs vary.

Renewable electricity
Reported value: 23078.04 GJ. Printed p23 / PDF p23.
Non-renewable electricity
Reported value: 142298.17 GJ. Printed p24 / PDF p24.
Non-renewable fuel
Reported value: 15026.95 GJ. Printed p24 / PDF p24.
Reported total energy
Reported value: 180403.16 GJ. Printed p24 / PDF p24.
Revenue-based energy intensity
Reported value: 39.84 GJ/ rupee crore. Printed p24 / PDF p24.
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited: 2024–25
Standalone MDL, Section A Q13. The company reports national plants and international offices, but the metric geography is not separately resolved. Its energy table has dashes in some component cells; they are not interpreted as zero. The revenue denominator and trailing precision are retained.

Renewable electricity
Reported value: 16399104.23 Mega joules. Printed p36 / PDF p36.
Non-renewable electricity
Reported value: 39657540.60 Mega joules. Printed p36 / PDF p36.
Non-renewable fuel
Reported value: 1446680.28 Mega joules. Printed p36 / PDF p36.
Reported total energy
Reported value: 57503325.10 Mega joules. Printed p36 / PDF p36.
Revenue-based energy intensity
Reported value: 0.00050 MJ/ Rupee. Printed p36 / PDF p36.
A reconciliation check, not a corrected total
For MDL’s 2024–25 table, the three selected numeric components are 16399104.23 + 39657540.60 + 1446680.28 = 57503325.11 Mega joules. The reported total is 57503325.10 Mega joules. Nitium’s derived diagnostic, reported total minus that numeric-component sum, is −0.01 Mega joules. The reason is not established here. Preserve the reported total; do not replace missing component dashes with zero or claim a fully reconciled balance. MDL BRSR, printed/PDF p36.
The two displayed intensity ratios also have different units: CSL reports 39.84 GJ/ rupee crore, while MDL reports 0.00050 MJ/ Rupee. Their displayed digits cannot be compared as like-for-like magnitudes. A conversion, if justified for a defined analysis, belongs in a separate derived field with its formula and denominator basis; it does not create another company-reported fact.
Questions to resolve before reuse
Does the figure cover the same entity, sites and activities as your question?
Are electricity, fuel, purchased energy and self-generation separated consistently? Avoid counting both a reported total and its components.
Does the period cover the same dates and length? Is the value selected from an original report or a later comparative?
What exactly is the intensity denominator? Keep the reported revenue basis, scale and any PPP adjustment separate.
Which methods, conversion factors and exclusions are actually stated? An unavailable field is a question to investigate.
GRI 103: Energy 2025 states that it takes effect for reports or other materials published on or after 1 January 2027. This hub retains historical issuer labels; it does not relabel these BRSR figures as GRI 103-compliant or make a regulatory-applicability determination.
Edition 0.6.0 downloads
The edition 0.6.0 archive contains D002-energy.csv and D002-energy.json, each with the same 246 observations, plus the matching dictionary variants and source, period, record, history and mandatory qualifications. It includes the other collections in the 1,661-record fixed selection. Formats and supporting tables add no records.
Previous edition 0.5.0 downloads and example support
The previous edition 0.5.0 ZIP contains D002-energy.csv and D002-energy.json, each holding the same 172 observations. Download the archive and extract the file you prefer. CSV and JSON are alternative formats, not additional records. Website search or interactive filtering is not provided on this page.
Open D002-energy.csv in a spreadsheet using UTF-8 import. Keep reported_value as text if you need to retain the source’s trailing precision.
Filter company_id, period_start, period_end, metric_id and original_unit. Keep observation_id with every copied row so the selected fact can be traced without using its row number.
Read boundary, method, denominator_if_relevant, footnote_context and comparability_caveat before calculating. source_id, source_url, printed_page and pdf_page_or_html_locator identify the report and the location.
Keep source_history_status, version and the supporting dictionaries with the subset. Consult metric-definition-variants.json and data-schema.json inside the archive when a source uses a specific label or unit.
Source versions, missing values and reuse
The same observation can appear in an original report and a later comparative column. Its stable observation ID counts once. A changed source label, a restatement, a derived calculation or another file format adds no reported observation. Read the selected source and the paired history together; an absent history pair does not establish that a value is unrevised.
The numeric collections include explicitly reported numbers. Blank metadata, a dash, Nil, NA and not-tracked states are not silently converted to zero. An explicit numeric zero remains zero. The source may not define NA. History CSV uses the literal token \N for JSON null, while a genuinely empty raw cell remains empty; normal CSV metadata blanks mean unavailable or not supplied.
The teaching values above are attributed factual transcriptions with original explanatory analysis by Nitium Advisory. AI-assisted preparation and separate internal source checking do not verify the underlying company measurements or provide assurance. These issuers are not identified as Nitium clients or endorsers. Reports stay on issuer websites; the download grants no blanket licence over reports or third-party material. Preserve source attribution, units, locators and caveats when making a subset.
This fixed edition is corrected through versioned releases; new issuer reports are not incorporated automatically. A broken source link, amended report or changed method is a reason to review the affected rows. The release method file records source-specific access limitations, including City Union Bank’s direct-PDF availability caveat.
Use the evidence in your reporting workflow
Browse the public ESG report directory for report identities and period boundaries. For activity-data preparation, see collecting energy data with clear units and the carbon inventory activity-data workbook. For a separate emissions collection, use reported greenhouse-gas data.
